4+ Day

We have a “rate the day” ritual every night……well, okay some nights we skip this but we do it very often.  Tonight after I said “good night” he says “What rating would you give today?”  I said, “Well, on a 1 to 5 scale with 5 being the best I think today could be a 4 because you did very well during your shower, you tried all of the pureed food I made and ate it and you been pretty alert. And your bowels moved! What rating did you give it?”  He said, “I give it a 4+ because it was a good day!”

We get help with the tooth decision

I’ve been worried sick about pulling the Geezer’s top three teeth.  Some days I think I will just let nature run its course and not pull them.  Then again I think I really should have them pulled.  This morning God intervened and told us what to do.  I walked around the bed to start getting the Geezer up for the day and I see this nut on the carpet.  I think how did he get this nut? as I bend down and pick it up.  Only the nut was actually one of the three teeth in his upper jaw!!!  It was also one of the anchors for the partial.  He claims it came out during the night and he dropped it on the floor.  That is also amazing!  He could have swallowed it.  So tomorrow I will call his new Dentist and tell her about this development and I will also say we can pull the other two teeth (one of which is infected and actually is hurting  the Geezer).

We spent the afternoon out of the condo.  The Geezer had a 2:15 Doctor’s appointment.  We left the hospital at 3:30 and then I had a few stops to make.  Made it home at 5:15! Had dinner by 6 – I pureed the leftover ribs with the potatoes and he actually like them! Then he fell asleep in the recliner for about an hour.  Got him in bed at 12:05……now tomorrow is his scheduled shower and his aid should be here between 11 and 1.

Mostly was a very quiet week

It has been a week of taking care of the Geezer.  Staying home and watching the weather.  Watching TV.  Some talking on the phone.  Lots of laundry done.  Finished the 9th Jack Reacher book. Pulled a muscle on my right side last Tuesday and it is still not recovered. That is due to the fact that I still have to move him a number of times a day with the same lift movement.  Still discussing the tooth!  I am trying to get to bed earlier than 2 am so will end this now.  I need 8 hours of sleep!!!!  Tomorrow a trip to see the skin Doctor. Could be driving home in snow!

It is late!

Very short blog entry: It is late.  The Geezer has a tooth problem.  He is on Penicillin and so sleep patterns are bad.  It has snowed here.  It will be very cold here tomorrow.  We are not going anywhere.  Just taking care of the tooth.  It will get pulled.  The Geezer is not happy about that. Neither am I as I am going to have to make the decision…it turns out that having the POA can cause a person to make really hard decisions!  Like who knew!

Some Observations

Observations.

Weather people can make mistakes.  The snow that should have begun falling at midnight did not start falling until noon!  I was very disappointed.  Now Friday could be another bad weather day – at least for driving.  Also, I don’t think we have 2 inches of snow.  It is blowing around.  It is windy.  The temperature is dropping fast.  Wind chill should be below zero right now. Still not as dramatic or as beautiful as I wanted it to be!

I put off stuff I have to do until I am in a panic.  I do not know why I do this.  Part of the reason for my resolve to be up earlier is so I can get the things I hate to do finished.  I have finished one thing (filled all of 2011′s paid bills!) and started cleaning and rearranging our bedroom and the kitchen.  And I have the stamps, the photo Brian took, the paper, the cards and the second attempt at a Christmas letter.  All I have to do is fix the letter, print it and then mail all of the very late cards………..surely hope this gets done before Easter.

I really am a good cook when I put my heart and mind into it.  I know this because the Geezer says so!  Tonight I fried up potatoes and onions and they really came out wonderful.  And he ate most of them.  With the potatoes, I served chicken breasts wrapped around a broccoli cheese combination, rolled in seasoned bread crumbs and baked in the oven.  He really enjoyed his chicken breast.  So did I.  I really liked how easy they were to bake.  Just remove from the freezer, take off the wrapping and place in a dish and roast in a 400 degree oven for 40 minutes!
